Starke Hospital achieves Joint Commission re-accreditation
Knox, Ind. – Starke Hospital has once again earned the Gold Seal of Approval® for Hospital Accreditation from The Joint Commission, renewing the hospital’s accreditation for the next three years. The award demonstrates the hospital’s continuous compliance with high-quality performance standards, and reflects the organization’s commitment to providing safe and effective care to patients.
“Joint Commission surveys are serious business. The survey team arrives unannounced, and completes an exhaustive inspection to evaluate our compliance with hospital standards across the board – from all areas of patient care, to emergency management, leadership, facilities and engineering, and more,” said Jeff Vice, interim CEO at Starke Hospital. “The Gold Seal is a testament to the dedication of our staff and physicians, and the high quality care they provide every day.”
During the Starke Hospital survey, surveyors noted a few areas in particular for excellent practices, including: educational Frequently Asked Questions materials used on the medical/surgical unit that were requested be submitted to The Joint Commission Leading Practice Library, transparency with data related to hospital falls, and the excellent door inspection program by the engineering/facilities department.
“The Gold Seal of Approval is not a one-day affair. It represents a consistent commitment over time to providing safe and effective care to our patients. This achievement is the result of a deliberate effort on a daily basis to ensure that we are following best practices and improving upon the care we give every day,” Vice said. “I would like to personally thank Starke Hospital colleagues and medical staff for this achievement.”
